VISION
Realizing the human need for identity, relatedness and purpose, we propose a graduate who is a mature person responding to those needs by being:
... A HOPE-FILLED PERSON who is rooted in the Gospel values, eager to face in faith and trust an uncertain future with a critical, reflective, creative, and peaceful anticipation.
... A PERSON WHO EMULATES CHRIST'S LOVE TO ALL PEOPLE appreciating one another's diversity, freedom, and uniqueness; unselfishly reaching out to free each other from fear, guilt, and isolation; who is capable of expressing intimacy, selflessly sharing one's time, talent, and resources; forgiving hurts, mending relationships, and healing wounds.
... AN ENTHUSIASTIC PERSON who feels in his/her soul a passion for life, an appreciation for beauty, a compassion for the oppressed, a commitment to justice and truth, and a desire to work for a better quality of life for his/her own self and that of others.
... A WHOLE PERSON who realistically affirms his/her own sense of becoming, assessing humbly his/her own capabilities, limitations, and areas to be further developed; strives for wellness; appreciates the privilege and responsibility of one's own sexuality; is intellectually alert, self-disciplined, self-confident, and self-motivated.
... A RESPONSIBLE PERSON who confidently responds to meeting just needs, protecting others' rights, and respecting the earth's environment with a dedication to peaceful resolutions of conflict and the democratic way of equal participation and balance of power while enjoying his/her own satisfaction in tasks well done.
... A WISE PERSON who communicates effectively; who researches various sources to synthesize, analyze, and evaluate what one hears, reads, and about which one must make judgments or solve problems; who believes learning is a life-long process; and therefore maintains an open mind and searching heart for what is right and just; who is culturally literate, thinks independently, and is appreciative of the wisdom and gift of others both of the present as well as those of another time and place.

PHILOSOPHY
We believe in Catholic Education that is centered in the Spirit of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Lord.
We believe that our heritage in the Keene area gives us a faith-filled view of our school, of life and of our mission.
We believe that together, the St. Joseph community of parents, students, and teachers share a common vision - one formed by the message of the Gospel. We affirm the values of high academic standards, responsibility, service, community, message, and worship.
Because of our belief in high academic standards, we teach for a mastery of the basic learning skills by challenging students to use and develop their talents to the fullest.
Because of our belief in responsibility, we encourage our students to work independently and cooperatively with others in a respectful manner.
Because of our belief in service, our students learn to be aware of the needs of others and to reach out and help them.
Because of our belief in community, we choose to be a people who care for one another and to create a family atmosphere in our school.
Because of our belief in worship, we celebrate our personal commitment to Jesus Christ in prayer, in song, in liturgies, in the sacraments and in religious instructions.
Because of our belief in the gospel message, we accept the challenge of Catholic Education calling us to a new vision of what our school can be. |
