Elementary School
Building foundational skills
In our Elementary School, students begin, in earnest, their academic journey and are challenged to reach their full potential in a classroom environment guided by virtues. Teachers work with each student to meet their unique needs.
Elementary students at SJRS develop strong academic and faith foundations in a caring environment. The curriculum emphasizes language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and religion while encouraging creativity through weekly classes in art, music, physical education, and library. Early grades focus on phonics, reading fluency, writing, and foundational math skills, while older elementary students build proficiency in multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, and problem-solving.
Special programs such as local field trips, hands-on science units, Reader’s Theatre, and 3rd- and 4th-grade study of New Hampshire history foster active, engaged learning. In 4th grade, students may begin musical instrument sectional lessons, if they wish.
All students in all grades attend weekly Mass at St. Bernard's Church as well as a prayerful Rosary and Adoration service, learning that each person is a gift, wonderfully made in God’s image.
